The Steel Phalanx is ALEPH indulging itself. An artificial intelligence with access to the whole of human culture chose to rebuild the heroes of the Iliad and send them to war, and the sectorial plays exactly as arrogantly as that sounds, with small numbers of very good troops linked into aggressive formations.

An expansion pack widens the options in a Steel Phalanx list rather than founding one. In an army this dependent on link teams and specialists, having more ways to build a fireteam is worth more than raw model count, because the difference between a good link and an awkward one decides games.
