Vader with an escort of ordinary Stormtroopers, which is the version of him most people picture. Darth Vader, The Emperor's Servant holds the Primary slot and the box's Force, a Stormtrooper Sergeant comes in as the Secondary, and two Stormtroopers fill Support.

This was among the first Galactic Civil War era squads in the game and it still works as the default opening for an Imperial collection: a heavyweight Primary, an inexpensive Secondary, and a Support carrying the plain Trooper tag, so the two smaller units keep their value long after you buy a different leader.

Vader also costs less than several other Primaries in the range, which leaves points free for the units standing around him. That is the practical reason this box gets recommended to new Imperial players ahead of flashier ones.

Reasons to skip: you already own a Vader. There are several of him across the range with different cards, but no collection needs three. A Clone Wars player gains nothing here either, since every model is from the wrong end of the timeline.
