The box that starts the New Mutants. Roberto da Costa absorbs and channels solar energy as Sunspot, and he is the more aggressive of the two, also legal in X-Force and the Hellfire Club. Warlock, the techno-organic alien, is the cheaper piece and the one who makes his teammates harder to remove.

Support characters are an easy thing to undervalue when you are buying miniatures, so it is worth being direct: Warlock will not win you a fight on his own, and a list of models like him loses. What he does is keep an expensive character standing for one more turn, which in a game decided on objectives is frequently the whole margin. If your heavy hitters keep dying just before they earn their points back, this is the box that fixes it.

Both models also expand X-Force, so nothing here is wasted if the New Mutants are not where you end up. That makes it a low-risk purchase for anyone with a mutant collection underway, though not a sensible first box, since it needs characters to support.

Build outward with the X-Force Affiliation Pack, the Xavier's Students Affiliation Pack or the X-Men Starter Set if you are still assembling the core roster.
