Three characters, one shared problem: they all have to be in contact with the enemy to matter. Echo is a hit-and-run fighter and also legal in the Criminal Syndicate, Ronin is Clint Barton with a sword rather than a bow, and Tigra brings feline speed. All three qualify for the Defenders, and Ronin and Tigra also play Avengers.

Buy this box if your squad is winning the shooting phase and losing the game anyway. It is a melee package, and against an opponent who is happy to trade shots at range and reposition, it can spend a turn and a half walking. Against an opponent clustered on an objective, it is brutal.

The affiliation coverage is the quiet strength here. Three Defenders in one purchase moves that affiliation from an idea to a real roster, and doing it with mobile, low-to-mid threat characters means you keep room in the budget for a heavy hitter. That makes it a better third or fourth box than a first one, since a new player is usually short of the expensive character these three are meant to support.
