When B1s fail, the Trade Federation sends something that does not. Droidekas roll into position in wheel mode, unfold, and pour out fire from twin arm-mounted blasters, which is why clone troopers and Jedi alike learned to take them seriously.

On the table they are a positioning problem for your opponent. Four destroyer droids arriving somewhere they were not expected forces a decision: commit something expensive to removing them, or concede the ground. Their weakness is arithmetic. Four models is not many, and a unit this dangerous draws fire from the whole board, so use terrain, arrive with support, and never walk them across open ground into a prepared firing line.

They suit any Separatist Alliance army and are the classic partner to a mass of cheap droids:

  • B1 Battle Droids screening ahead and sitting on objectives
  • General Grievous' TSMEU-6 Wheel Bike or Super Tactical Droid Commanders leading the force
  • An AAT Battle Tank drawing attention while the Droidekas advance

The expansion contains four unpainted Droideka miniatures matching those in the Clone Wars Core Set, a unit card outlining their abilities, and three upgrade cards covering comms systems. The wheel and deployed poses give painters something more interesting than another rank of infantry. A strong early purchase for a Separatist player who has the bodies and now wants the teeth.
