Moonstone: Matilda

A mounted human in a game where almost nobody rides anything. Matilda is a Commonwealth Monster Box containing one mounted miniature in fine quality resin with base and stat card.

The keywords are Human, Animal and Mercenary, and the Animal is the mount. Mounted models are rare across the Moonstone range, which is a good part of the appeal, and a mercenary can be bought without committing to a theme: she does not need the rest of your troupe to be humans.

Where she goes. Rags to Riches (Kaufman, Gertrude the Faerie Hunter, Natty the Slum Thief) and Administration of Justice both give you three Commonwealth humans and leave the fourth slot open, and Tumbledown Street and The Barony do the same. If you have gone gnome instead she still works, and a rider among gnomes makes the difference in scale look deliberate.

As a model she is one of the better paint projects here for anyone who has not tackled a mount before: a single sculpt, a lot of surface, and no squad to match it to. Multipart resin, so expect a real assembly job rather than a two-part snap fit.

Not a first purchase. Buy a troupe box, play a few games, then decide whether you want the rider. Supplied unassembled and unpainted.
