Moonstone: Loubard

Fourteen energy pips and three inches of melee reach. Loubard the Giant is the largest profile in this part of the range, and the reach is the detail worth dwelling on: three inches means he threatens models that have not closed with him yet.

He is also legal in two factions, Commonwealth and Leshavult, which for a model this expensive is worth knowing before you commit. A Giant carrying the Cultist keyword is a strange combination, and it is exactly what lets him sit in either troupe without looking out of place. Fourteen health boxes and an evade value of plus two make him hard to shift by either route: you cannot chip him down quickly and you cannot easily catch him out of position.

The catch is arithmetic. A troupe runs to roughly four models, so a giant is a quarter of your force and a much larger share of its weight. Fewer activations means every card you play has to count, and an opponent who cannot kill him will simply walk around him and take the objectives instead. Played well he anchors a board. Played carelessly he is a very large distraction.
