Read the affiliations before the character names on this one. Colossus, Magik, Bishop and Nightcrawler are all legal for Uncanny X-Men, but between them they also reach into X-Force, New Mutants, Convocation, Defenders, Servants of the Apocalypse and the Brotherhood. Magik alone is playable in five different affiliations. For a collection that is still finding its direction, that flexibility is worth more than any individual card in the box.

The gap is leadership. None of these four leads an affiliation, so this pack cannot start a mutant collection on its own: you need Cyclops, Storm or Professor X on the table for a legal Uncanny X-Men squad. Buy it second, not first.

In play the four cover different jobs. Colossus is the durable one you push forward, Nightcrawler is the mobile piece that shows up where he is inconvenient, Bishop absorbs and returns damage at range, and Magik is the utility. That mix, plus six Team Tactic Cards, makes it one of the better value purchases in the mutant range.

One thing to check first: Bishop and Nightcrawler also come as their own two-character pack, so if that box is already on your shelf, half of this one is duplicate.
