Crises are won by cheap characters, and that is the whole case for this box. Iceman and Shadowcat both sit at the low end of the threat scale, which lets an Uncanny X-Men list afford a genuine heavyweight and still put someone on a distant objective. Mutant collections built entirely of mid-cost and expensive characters lose games they were winning on damage, and these two are the fix.

They are not interchangeable. Iceman works at a distance and is comfortable holding ground, while Shadowcat is the one who goes where she should not be able to go and contests something your opponent assumed was safe. Shadowcat also plays for the New Mutants, and Iceman for the Servants of the Apocalypse, so both have a second home if your collection turns.

Four Team Tactic Cards come with the pair, and they are aimed at the mutant affiliations rather than at these two characters alone, which is where a lot of the value sits.

Nobody should buy this expecting a centrepiece. Neither will win a fight against a serious attacker, and neither is meant to. Buy them to make the rest of your X-Men list work harder.
