At threat seven, the Accursed King is one of the most expensive characters you can put in a squad, and that number should drive the whole decision. Taking him means a standard game is built around one enormous piece and a short list of cheap supports, with almost nothing in between. When that works it is because your opponent cannot deal with him and has to give ground everywhere else. When it fails it is because they ignored him and quietly scored the crisis with three cheap models while he stomped around the middle of the board.

He is a leader for Cabal, which is the real argument for owning him: it is a second way to build the affiliation for anyone who has only ever run it one way. His magic and deception play is about bending what your opponent can safely do rather than simply hitting harder, and the two Team Tactic Cards in the box extend that to his allies.

Cabal players with a deep bench should buy him. Newer players should not, because a list this top-heavy is punishing to learn on and leaves you no room for mistakes. Painters get a mounted centrepiece on a bog tiger, which is one of the more ambitious models in the range and worth the box on its own if display is your thing.
