Marvel Crisis Protocol: Asgardians Starter Set

Ten Asgardians ship together here, and two of them, Loki, Prince of Lies and The Mighty Thor, can legally lead the affiliation. Picking between them is the first real decision an Asgard player makes, because leadership decides whether the squad plays as a wall of durable bodies or as something trickier and more manipulative.

Asgard wins the fight it chooses. Thor, Lady Sif, Valkyrie and Skurge are all built to walk into contact and stay there, and the affiliation rarely folds to one alpha strike. The cost is model count. Almost nothing in this box is cheap, so a standard roster ends up as a handful of expensive characters, and a Secure crisis that scatters objectives across the table will punish that. Heimdall, The All-Seeing and the Warriors Three are the pressure valve, the entries you reach for when you need presence rather than more muscle.

This is the right buy for a player starting Asgard from nothing, since dice, movement and range tools, crisis cards and a mission tracker are all included and one person can teach the game out of it. Think harder if you already own the Warriors of Asgard Affiliation Pack, which duplicates Angela, Enchantress, Heimdall and Skurge, four of the ten characters here. The Asgardians Affiliation Pack overlaps far less, since it carries different versions of Thor, Loki and Valkyrie alongside Hela.
