The Gunnery Corporal sharpens what your shooting already does, tightening fire discipline and accuracy so a ranged line stops wasting turns. The Engineer works the terrain and the machinery instead: sabotaging the battlefield against your opponent while keeping your own equipment functioning. One improves output, the other protects the conditions that output depends on.

For anyone weighing up Embersig, this pairing is a fair illustration of how the faction is meant to be played. It is not an army that wins by having better individual warriors. It wins by being organised, and support characters like these are where the organisation lives.
