The Unshackling Mace is the part worth understanding before you buy. It throws enemies bodily away from wherever they were standing, which makes it a positioning tool at least as much as a damage one. A defender shifted off a doorway, a bridge or an objective is a lane opened for everything else in your force, and that second order effect is usually worth more than the wound you did on the way through.

So he suits a player who wants to make room rather than grind an opponent down over several turns. If your Syenann games keep stalling in a scrum in the middle of the table, he is the model that breaks the deadlock by physically rearranging it.
