Star Wars Unlimited: Ashes of the Empire - Carbonite Booster Display

Carbonite packs sit outside the normal Star Wars: Unlimited print run. They exist for collectors: every card carries a variant treatment or a premium finish, the print quantity is capped, and no reprint is planned.

This display holds 12 Carbonite packs from Ashes of the Empire, the game's eighth set, drawn from the Battle of Endor and the years immediately after it. Each pack contains 16 cards, all of them given premium or foil treatments.

What that works out to in practice:

• 192 cards in the box, none of them plain
• No commons-and-chase structure, because the whole pack is the chase
• A finite print run, which tends to push secondary prices up rather than down

This is not the display to buy for deckbuilding. Twelve packs of variants is an expensive route to playables, and a standard Ashes of the Empire booster display gives far more cards for that purpose. Carbonite is for people who want the treatments themselves.

One thing worth knowing: because these are variant printings of cards from the set, everything inside is legal in the same formats as its standard version. Collectible does not mean decorative here, and a Carbonite card can go straight into a competitive deck.
