This droid is a detachment rather than a squad, and that one line governs how you use it. It attaches to a Special Forces unit instead of operating as an independent choice, which means the probe droid turns up wherever your infiltrating troopers turn up.

Observe 3 is a free action, so it distributes observation tokens without surrendering its activation, and Infiltrate places it early. Hover: Air 1 floats it over terrain that would stop a walker, while Disengage lets it leave a melee it never wanted to be in. Four wounds behind white defense with a block surge is far more resilient than a reconnaissance model has any right to be.

Self-Destruct 3 is the punchline, and it is also a free action, which turns a droid that has finished its work into a delivered explosive rather than a wasted model. Plan around that ending instead of treating it as a loss.
