Moonstone: Rulebook

A hundred pages and change, and only part of it is rules. The book carries the v1.3 core rules in full, then keeps going for another fifty-odd pages of history, maps and narrative about the world the game is set in.

Between those two halves sit seven alternate scenarios and profiles for more than thirty characters, background included. That middle section is the part most players get the most out of. Moonstone is decided by bluffing and card play rather than dice, so knowing what a character is for, and what an opponent is likely to be holding, is worth roughly as much as knowing the rules themselves.

Worth being clear about what this is not. It is a reference and a setting book, not a starter: no models, no shared card deck, nothing you can put on a table straight out of it. If you already own a troupe and have been learning from summaries and videos, this is what replaces them. If you have never played, one of the two-player starter sets is the better first purchase and the book is the follow-up.

Illustrated throughout, in the same storybook register as the miniatures. Over a hundred pages.
