Moonstone: Mama's Boys

Somebody has to be in charge of the gnomes, and it was never going to be one of the gnomes with a musket.

Mama's Boys is a three-model Commonwealth troupe box in fine quality resin: Billy (Gnome, Militia, Animal), Mama Gimble (Gnome) and Quarrel (Gnome, Soldier, Militia), each with a stat card.

Two Militia and a matriarch. Billy's Animal keyword is the odd one out and the reason this box is more interesting than a straight trio of gnome infantry: it gives you a model that reads differently to an opponent across the table, which is worth something in a game where a good deal of the skill is managing what your opponent expects.

The obvious partner is Brothers in Arms, which supplies Young Jack, Gradock and Morris and shares the Militia thread. Together the two boxes give you six gnomes to pick a four-character troupe from, which is the point at which Moonstone starts to feel like a game of choices rather than a game of what you happen to own. For a bigger fourth, Brunhilde the Giant, Gotchgut the Giant and the Gnomish Airship all serve.

Mama Gimble v3 and Quarrel v3 both feature in the Stat Card Errata Pack 2025, so the cards in this box may not be the current versions. A good first Commonwealth box. Multipart resin, unassembled and unpainted.
