Marvel Crisis Protocol: NYC City Block Terrain Collection

Two multi-storey apartment buildings are what you are really buying here, and they change games more than any card in the box. Marvel Crisis Protocol is played in three dimensions, and a board with real vertical structure plays completely differently from a flat one: fliers and climbers become worth their cost, shooting lanes stop being free, and characters who can only walk have to commit early to a route.

The rest of the set is the connective tissue that makes a table look like a street rather than a diorama shelf: vehicles, dumpsters, street furniture, a truck, a newsstand and a billboard sticker. Seven One-Shot Cards give several of those pieces a rule, so a car or a dumpster can matter mechanically rather than only visually.

This is the terrain purchase to make first if your table is currently bare, and the one to skip if you already own a full urban set, because a third dumpster does not improve a game. It is a large amount of assembly, so factor in build time before it sees play. If you are matching it to a collection, it sits under a Spider-Foes, Defenders or Avengers game far more naturally than an Asgardian or cosmic one.
