Marvel Crisis Protocol: Dark Future Terrain Pack

Sacred flames, illuminated crystals, energy siphons and regeneration vats: every piece in this set belongs to one story, and that is both its strength and its limit. Dropped onto a table it immediately reads as Apocalypse territory rather than as generic scenery, which is exactly what you want if your collection is heading toward En Sabah Nur and his Servants, and exactly what you do not want if you are trying to build a board that works for every matchup.

Mechanically the useful part is spread. These are multiple small pieces rather than one large centrepiece, so they give a board line of sight blockers and climbable ground in several places at once. That tends to favour squads with short-ranged characters, because there is cover to advance behind, and it makes life harder for a list that wants clean shooting lanes. Two Environment cards are included, so the scenery can carry a rule rather than only a silhouette.

It pairs naturally with the Shrine to En Sabah Nur Terrain Pack and the Rejuvenation Chamber Ultimate Encounter, and the three together make a coherent themed board. On its own it will not fill a table, so treat it as a second or third terrain purchase rather than a first. Players who only ever play on a club's standard urban setup will get display value out of it and very little else.
